By the way, in case you are wondering, we do not applaud or condone or participate in the psychic genre of this radio station.

Note: The idea - design - content of a broadcasted  program featuring antiques (with the unique feature of reading from books, magazines, text, etc) and taking calls with discussions  for the purpose of education and appreciation of an era gone (and of course directing to my website)  is entirely mine and therefore copyrighted.  (C) 2008.  Lorraine Mabbett

Do you like the photographs in the background. They're mine too and copyrighted. I'm very talented...or else like to boast as if I were.

About our show and website:                   April 2008 Programs    May 2008 Programs  Somebody Will Buy It - Discussion

OUR WEBSITE:

Each of the pages will have applicable information on material referenced or read on the show and if it is available for sale by us ......of if possible where it might be found.  We are reading from books, newspapers, magazines, etc and offering a comment here or there.   Please join us!

Rather than cluttering this page with links to every broadcast we've limited it to monthly links - from which you may go to the weekly links.

We have a discussion list - it's in the preliminary stage so excuse us if we don't respond promptly.  Hopefully it will generate enough interest and participation to be of value.

Down the road.......we hope to offer a venue for local, struggling antique stores and similar collectible shops, to present what they have for sale in conjunction or applicable to a particular broadcast.

Thank you for reading!  Lorraine

OUR SHOW GOAL:

The antique shows "on the road" and auction appraisal venues offer a service but unfortunately have resulted in many people amassing much, as they hope to find and then cash in on one good item, for a windfall.  Often this accumulation of "stuff" is not organized or able to be enjoyed. And so the time arrives to part with it - either because of lack of storage, poor health, or desperate finances.  Alas it is quickly  discarded  - without having had the time to be enjoyed or shared with another generation.

Our second goal is to

enable you to enjoy your finds - to rediscover them.

Our first goal is to slowly look at the recent past - to appreciate the news when it was presented in a more colorful (as in verbage)  format in print - and to not so quickly discard books of any age.  While they don't elicit the thousand of dollars a collector would pay for a book hundreds of years old or one with a rare signature, we think a book from the early 20th or 19th century still has merit.  Therefore, we opt to read from them, on our show.

Thank you for listening!  Lorraine
